8 Unique Storage Ideas to Declutter Your Life

If you’ve been looking for ways to declutter your home, adding more storage is the way to do it. Here are some very clever storage ideas to give you some inspiration and to make your home more organized.

This corner storage cabinet takes an awkward kitchen cupboard space and turns into unique and functional storage. The alternative is to put a lazy susan in this space. But lazy susans don’t allow for big items. This cabinet works for things like plate storage, pot storage, or extra cutlery storage.

Do you have a flight of stairs? Do you need extra storage? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then why not convert your steps to drawers? Just think of the things you can store. This would be a great place for shoe storage, hats and gloves storage, or even valuables storage.

Looking for ways to declutter your kitchen counters? How about a coffee storage cabinet? This allows you easy access to that fresh brew every morning, then lets you tuck it away to be hidden the rest of the day. You can also convert an existing cabinet for this purpose by adding a slide out shelf.

Your mudroom or front entry need not be the place where everything gets dumped. Instead, create a hidden shoe and boot storage area that includes coat hangers and backpack cubbies.

We must admit, this is our favorite. So clever and functional is this under-stair storage idea. It makes use of an underused space and adds an incredible amount of storage at the same time. If you need coat storage, purse storage, seasonal storage, or even cleaning supplies storage, this makes so much sense. Plus, these items are easy to get to versus trying to access the back of a traditional closet.

Bike storage is always a hassle. While keeping them in the garage makes sense, they’re always in the way and hard to access, especially if you’ve hung them on the wall or via pulley system. This unique bicycle storage shed solves both those problems.

Everyone these days has a ton of shoes. The problem is keeping them neat and organized. Shoe racks could work, but often shoes get intermixed. This cubby system works perfectly as shoe storage to keep your shoe pairs separate from one another. You can use it for other things as well. Plus, it looks cool!

If you live in a tiny apartment and need small space storage, this Hughes Sofa by Joybird will do the trick. Use it for pillow storage, blanket storage, or the “throw all your extra junk in there because your guests are about to be there” storage.

Decluttering is about finding ways to organize your belongings and storing them in ingenious ways. If these ideas don’t fit the bill, consider renting a storage unit. Not only is it affordable, you won’t have to do any wacky construction!
