Summit Heated Self Storage has 77 paved outdoor spaces for RV storage, boat storage, trailer storage, and vehicle storage at 5104 104th St E in Tacoma. We are less than a mile from the Canyon Rd E exit on SR-512, which means you can be off the highway and parked without navigating a single narrow residential street.

Security for Vehicles You Cannot Keep an Eye On

An RV sits unattended for most of the year, which makes security the thing worth asking about first. Our facility has 24-hour recorded video monitoring, an electronic gate with individual pin code entry, bright lighting throughout, and on-site management during office hours. Every entry and exit is tied to a code, so there is a record of who came through the gate and when.

This is also why storing at a facility beats storing in the driveway. Beyond the security, you free up the side yard, you stay on the right side of HOA and city parking rules, and your rig is not sitting street-side collecting attention.

Access Seven Days a Week, 6:00 am to 10:00 pm

RV trips do not start at convenient hours. Our gate is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm every day of the year, including holidays, so you can pull out at dawn on a Friday and be back late Sunday without coordinating with anyone.

Our office is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with staff on site. That matters more than it sounds. Most dedicated RV lots in this area are unstaffed — a gate, a code, and a phone number. If you need to ask a question, check on your rig, sort out a billing issue, or have a package or a set of keys handled, there is a person here six days a week.

Rentals are month-to-month, so if you store seasonally and pull the rig out for the summer, you are not locked into a contract you are not using.

Boat, Trailer, and Vehicle Storage

The same 77 spaces work for more than motorhomes. We regularly store boats on trailers, utility and cargo trailers, work trailers, landscape equipment trailers, classic cars, and second vehicles that do not fit in the garage.

If you are storing a boat through the wet season, the shorter 6×20 and 12×24 spaces usually handle anything up to a mid-size ski or fishing boat on its trailer. For anything with a tower or an oversized swim platform, measure to the furthest point and go up a size.

Storing a classic or a project car outdoors? These spaces are uncovered, so a quality fitted car cover is worth the investment. If you would rather keep a vehicle fully enclosed, our larger drive-up storage units in 10×20 and 10×25 will take most cars and trucks.

We are also about ten miles from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. If you are heading out on orders or a deployment and need somewhere secure for the RV or boat, month-to-month terms mean you are not paying for time you do not need.

Storing Gear as Well as the Rig

Most people who store an RV with us end up needing somewhere for everything that comes out of it. Camp chairs, awnings, generators, bedding, kitchen gear, and off-season sports equipment all take up the garage space you were trying to reclaim in the first place.

Because we are a heated facility, we can pair an outdoor RV space with a heated indoor unit. That matters in the Puget Sound wet season: electronics, upholstery, linens, and anything with adhesive or veneer hold up far better in a heated space than in an unheated shed. A 5×10 handles most RV gear, and a 10×10 covers a full camp setup with room to spare.

Getting Your RV Ready for Storage

A little prep before you park saves you a frustrating morning when you pull out again. The basics worth doing every time:

Empty the tanks. Drain and flush black and gray tanks before you store. This is the one nobody skips twice.
Deal with moisture. Our winters are wet. Moisture absorbers inside the cabin, vents cracked where weather allows, and a check of every seal and seam before you park.
Take the food out. Everything, including sealed pantry items. Food is what attracts rodents.
Protect the battery. Disconnect it, or pull it and store it somewhere it will not freeze.
Cover the tires. UV cracks sidewalls even through a Pacific Northwest winter. Inflate to spec and cover them.
Keep the insurance current. Your policy should stay active while the rig is in storage. Check what your carrier requires for a stored vehicle.
